Image and performance

From wide angle to super telephoto: image quality at every focal length

At the heart of the RX10 V, a 20.1-megapixel 1.0-inch Exmor RS sensor and the BIONZ XR processor from the Alpha series work together. The stacked design ensures a high readout speed, which limits distortion with fast-moving subjects. The BIONZ XR processor delivers true-to-life colours and fine texture. Even at higher ISO values, noise reduction keeps your images clean, so you can take sharp, detailed photos in more difficult light too.

The ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24-600mm f/2.4-f/4.0 has a zoom range of 24-600mm, for capturing everything from sweeping landscapes to distant birds in razor-sharp detail. For close-ups you can focus from around 3 cm, while the lens also produces smooth, beautiful bokeh. The ergonomic grip is based on the Alpha series, so the camera feels familiar and comfortable in the hand, and you frame your shot through a bright 0.5-inch OLED viewfinder or on the tilting touchscreen.

Always sharp at the right moment

Track every subject, however fast it moves

Follow a bird flying past, a child sprinting along the touchline or a car driving away: the RX10 V recognises your subject and keeps it sharp. The smart recognition detects people, animals, birds, insects and vehicles, and with people the autofocus even tracks the eye and posture. The camera chooses the right type of subject itself, so you can concentrate on the composition instead of your settings.

Thanks to the wide, fast autofocus and shooting up to 30fps without the viewfinder image blacking out, you continuously see what is happening and never miss the action. With the new AF-ON button and multi-selector you control focusing directly, just like on an Alpha, and with Speed Boost you speed up at exactly the moment that counts.

Film as easily as you take photos

Smooth 4K video for every story

The RX10 V films in sharp 4K up to 120fps, and at 4K 60fps even without cropping. For fast action, from sport to wildlife, you slow footage down with slow motion up to 5x in 4K or up to 240fps in Full HD. The built-in stabilisation keeps your footage steady even when filming handheld, and Auto Framing follows your subject and automatically adjusts the framing, so you stay in shot even without a camera operator.

All the tools for a professional workflow are on board: cinematic colour profiles such as S-Cinetone, S-Log3 for maximum freedom in post-production, 4:2:2 10-bit All-Intra recording and support for your own LUTs. Via the Multi Interface Shoe you record clean digital audio, with Shot Mark you mark your best scenes during recording to find them quickly later, and with time-lapse you capture slow changes at speed. You can also livestream directly from the camera in 4K.
