It doesn’t matter whether you’ve had a GoPro before or are completely new to the world of action cams; thanks to its simple controls, everyone will master it in no time. Improved battery life
The battery life of the GoPro 12 has been significantly improved. You can use the action cam for up to twice as long in 4K and 5K, and film for up to 70 minutes.
Immersive HyperView
Record in an 8:7 ratio to capture as much of your surroundings as possible. With Vertical Capture, it is even possible to create videos in 9:16 for platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
Tripod mount
A 1/4-20” mount has been added to the bottom of the new HERO 12. This now also makes it possible to place the action cam on a tripod.
Multiple Bluetooth Connection
The GoPro 12 features Multiple Bluetooth Connection. This makes it easy to connect multiple devices. In addition, you can control the HERO 12 via an external headset using voice control.
Wireless microphone
One new feature is the ability to connect a wireless microphone for improved audio recordings. This can be a Bluetooth headset, but wireless earbuds or headphones are also suitable.
Timecode synchronisation
It is possible to synchronise two GoPros with each other using a QR code. A timecode is also added, making post-processing easier.
Renewed body
The well-known small black box has been upgraded compared to its predecessors. The most striking feature is the pattern of small, light dots covering the body of the action cam. Less noticeable, but a very welcome addition, is the tripod mount on the bottom of the GoPro. It is possible to mount the GoPro on almost any tripod, making it easy to place it wherever you like. Of course, this has no effect on the GoPro’s waterproofing. You can still use the action cam underwater down to a depth of 10 metres.
Improved battery
There have been impressive improvements when it comes to the battery life of the GoPro HERO 12. Although this is the same battery as its predecessor, it lasts up to twice as long when recording in 4K or 5K. It is possible to film for up to 70 minutes. This means you won’t miss a single moment during a weekend away with family, on holiday or at your friends’ wedding.
Connecting a wireless microphone
Where its predecessors had a built-in microphone for audio recordings, the HERO 12 allows you to connect a wireless microphone. This greatly improves audio quality. You can connect a wireless headset, earbuds or headphones to the GoPro to record audio. A major advantage of this is that the audio is always recorded in good quality, even when there is a large distance between you and the action cam.
Connectivity & synchronisation
An impressive addition is the ability to synchronise two GoPros with each other, allowing you to record simultaneously from different angles. You can enable Timecode synchronisation by scanning the QR code on the GoPro, which links them together. The recordings automatically receive a timecode, so you can also synchronise the footage during post-processing. With the HERO 12, it is also possible to connect multiple devices via Bluetooth. This means you no longer have to disconnect first when you want to pair another device.
HyperView recordings
This lets you see more of the scene and gives you, as the user, the flexibility to record both horizontally and vertically. Shoot footage in an 8:7 ratio and then share it as a 16:9 wide-angle recording or in a 1:1 ratio. This makes it quick and easy to create footage for various social media channels, including TikTok and Instagram. With the GoPro Quik app, you can easily adjust the aspect ratio and apply edits to your footage. This allows you to share your recordings directly on your favourite social media platform.
