By using a UV filter, haze is reduced, blue and violet are corrected in colour photos, and black-and-white photos become sharper. The multi-coating also reduces annoying reflections. A UV filter is recommended to protect multi-coated lenses against damage and to reduce UV light. Multi-coated UV filters are designed for outdoor photography, portrait, and "snapshot" photography. The UV filter has a filter factor of zero and has no effect on exposure.
