It is equipped with a 45.7 Megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor without a low-pass filter and an EXPEED 5 image processor. This delivers exceptional sharpness and an outstanding dynamic range, with an ISO range from 64 to 25,600. That means you can shoot without any trouble in all lighting conditions. You get beautiful results in bright sunlight as well as at dusk. The D850 features the same advanced 153-point Autofocus system as the D5. With it, you can effortlessly track any subject or movement, whether at a sports match or at a gala premiere. You shoot video in 4K UHD quality. The D850 captures high resolution video footage using the full width of the sensor. This lets you create videos with a beautiful cinematic look. You can also create 4K timelapses. With external software, you can even upgrade this to 8K Resolution.

With the Nikon D850 you can shoot up to 7fps. When you use the optional MB-D18 Grip, this goes up to 9fps. The Battery life has also improved considerably compared to the D810. The Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR lens is a versatile wide-angle to short Telephoto lens, characterised by its constant f/2.8 maximum Aperture and electromagnetic Aperture mechanism. A new optical design includes a unique aspherical extra-low dispersion element, alongside aspherical, extra-low dispersion and high refractive index elements. These elements reduce chromatic aberrations and distortion across the entire zoom range to ensure high sharpness and clarity. The Nano Crystal Coating further improves image quality by reducing lens flare for better contrast and colour accuracy. A fluorine coating on the front and rear elements protects your lens against dust, moisture and dirt.

To complement its imaging capabilities, a Silent Wave Motor AF system delivers fast, quiet focusing that suits both photo and video shooting. You can easily switch from Autofocus to manual focus by simply turning the focus ring. VR Image stabilisation also helps when shooting in fast-moving situations and in poor light. The Image stabilisation compensates for the effects of camera shake by up to four stops of Shutter speed. In addition, an electromagnetic Aperture mechanism is built into the lens design to provide more stability and greater exposure control.
