The Panasonic Leica DG Vario Elmarit 50-200 mm F2.8-4.0 lens is ideal for nature and other types of photography and has a 100-400mm equivalent zoom range and is designed for Micro Four Thirds cameras. The long range is complemented by a bright F / 2.8-4.0 maximum aperture range, which works in low light and also provides control over depth of field for isolating subjects. The optical design includes various low dispersion elements, two aspherical elements and an ultra-high refractive index element to control both chromatic and spherical aberrations for improved clarity and sharpness. A Nano Surface Coating has also been used to limit lens flare and ghosting for more contrast and colorfastness when working in strong light.

With a 240-fps high-speed AF motor that allows both stills and video recordings, this camera offers fast, quiet and accurate autofocus performance. A Power Optical Image Stabilizer compensates for camera shake and works with Dual ISI from Panasonic and Dual I.S. 2.0 built-in stabilization functions to minimize the occurrence of camera shake. Moreover, the physical design of the lens is dust and moisture resistant, as well as frost resistant, for use in bad weather conditions.
