The lens construction consists of nine lens elements in six groups (including an aspherical and a hybrid aspherical lens element). To ensure high contrast and true color reproduction, all lens elements have a multi-layered UMC anti-reflection coating.

The Samyang 50mm f/1.4 provides an extremely smooth transition between sharp and out of focus, the so-called bokeh effect. Thanks to the eight-blade aperture, the subjects that fall outside the depth of field are shown in the smooth transition.
