The Sigma HU-21 Hot Shoe Unit is an attachable hot shoe, made specifically for the Sigma FP2. It adds a hot shoe with a connection identical to that of OM System and Lumix, so you can use external flashes. With the HU-21, you also connect microphones and XLR adapters to the shoe for 32-bit float audio recordings.

Sigma HU-21 Hot Shoe Unit for FP2

The Sigma FP2 has no hot shoe of its own. With the Sigma HU-21 Hot Shoe Unit, you add one. It is an attachable unit, designed exclusively for the FP2, with a hot shoe and a dedicated flash connection identical to that of OM System and Lumix. This lets you use a wide range of third-party external flashes with your camera.

With an external flash, the FP2 works with TTL automatic exposure, manual flash, wireless flash and multi flash. You adjust the flash power by up to ±3 EV in steps of 1/3 EV, and the maximum flash sync speed is 1/50 second (1/60 second or shorter in crop mode). Red-eye reduction, slow sync and second-curtain sync are also possible.

You also use the HU-21 for audio. With the HU-21 and the Panasonic DMW-XLR2 (XLR adapter) and DMW-DMS1 (digital shotgun microphone), you record audio in 32-bit float, which limits noise on soft sounds and clipping on loud sounds.
