The wide viewing angle at 20mm makes this lens ideal in locations where space is limited and 60mm is ideal for portraits, for example. The Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6 has a minimum focusing distance of only 15 centimeters and also captures smooth video images without any problems. This is made possible by a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing. The optical construction consists of 11 lenses in 9 groups, and the use of two aspherical lenses and three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses suppresses both axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration due to magnification. The aspherical lenses also correct for astigmatism, producing extremely bright images. In addition, a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens provides uniform image quality from the center to the edges of the image.
