Hoya 55mm HDX UV

The Hoya 55mm HDX UV filter is a UV filter of absolute top quality. Hoya itself even says the HDX series offers the 'Best filter performance in history'. The Hoya HD UV range features hardened glass, with 4x the tensile strength of traditional filters of similar fabrication. This filter is also of great use in today's digital market where sensors are more sensitive to reflected light. The Hoya 55mm HDX UV filter has a special coating that reduces these internal reflections and, thereby, promotes a clearer, brighter and sharper image. The multi-coating used in this filter is made up of 8 layers on each side that promotes 99.35% light transmission and makes the filter water-proof and stain resistant.

The mount is made from highly durable black anodised aluminium and is extra thin. This way, you won't have to worry about vignetting, which is the case for a large part of the cheaper filters. This makes the filter suitable for use with wide-angle lenses.
