The Hoya 67mm UV-IR is a lens filter that, when attached to the lens, only allows the visible spectrum of light rays into the camera that are captured by the sensor. It blocks both the higher-frequency ultraviolet rays and the lower-frequency infrared rays. This is important for digital photographers because the CCD and CMOS sensors in our cameras are extremely sensitive to UV and IR rays just outside the visible spectrum, which have a very negative impact on image quality.

The filter offers even greater versatility than is already found in a combined UV-IR filter, thanks to the threading on both the front and rear. These allow standard-size stackable filters to be attached, giving you even more filter effect options, whilst also accommodating a standard lens cap.

Another advantage of using the UV-IR filter is that it can also reduce the effects of atmospheric haze to a greater degree than a standard UV filter would. This means that sharper images with more depth and finer, richer colour gradations are possible when incorporating the filter effects into your photography.
