Olympus M.Zuiko 12-50mm F/3.5-6.3 ED EZ zwart
This lens can be used on Olympus PEN and OM-D cameras.
This lens features a virtually silent electromagnetic zoom mechanism that works extremely smoothly, without any strenuous wrist work. That means everyone can now make great video footage. Add the variable zoom speed and lightning-fast autofocus, and you have a perfect zoom lens for shooting films and portraits. This lens is also ideal for impressive close-ups and beautiful wide-angle shots. With a maximum angle of view of 84° and a focal length of 24-100mm*, the possibilities are virtually unlimited. This versatile standard zoom lens is a perfect addition to the latest PEN models.
With the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm 1:3.5-6.3 EZ, Olympus raises the bar for zoom lenses for video recording. The electromagnetic zoom mechanism lets you zoom in and out smoothly and quietly at a constant speed. This prevents the annoying camera movements that often occur when you zoom by hand, and thanks to the virtually silent operation, you won't hear any noise in your video recordings either. You can choose from three zoom speeds. At 'slow' you have all the time to concentrate on your composition, and at 'fast' you can be sure you won't miss a thing.
The lens offers 4.2x magnification and is remarkably fast. The electromagnetic motor responds almost instantly and, together with Olympus' MSC technology (Movie and Still Compatible), delivers fast and virtually silent autofocus. For this lens, Olympus has expanded this technology with a Linear Motor Drive that uses an electromagnetic motor. This makes focusing faster and quieter, which is ideal for video recording.
As you would expect from an Olympus PEN lens, the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm 1:3.5-6.3 EZ delivers great image quality. This is due, among other things, to the multi-layer coating applied to all lens elements and to the two aspherical elements that correct common zoom aberrations. The great quality is especially evident in the macro mode, which offers 0.72x* magnification at a distance of 20 to 50 cm. Perhaps less well known is the L-Fn button (a first for a PEN lens), which prevents the lens from accidentally focusing on the wrong subject. If something suddenly comes between the lens and your chosen subject, you can press this button so that the autofocus is temporarily switched off until the way is clear again. For fans of finer craftsmanship, this lens offers something nice too: the option to switch off the autofocus completely and use the manual zoom ring.
