Brexit FAQ

Photospecialist has taken all necessary steps to ensure we can keep delivering your orders after January 1st 2021. We have overhauled our website, made agreements with all our suppliers ensured we have more then enough stock. This means we are ready to take your orders and try our best to get them to you as soon as possible.

Why this page?

Photospecialist.co.uk is operated by a Netherlands based company. Due to Brexit a lot of things change, the most important for our customers is that the UK is no longer part of the EU customs union. This means that products shipped from EU mainland must be cleared by UK customs. We take care of the customs process together with our logistic provider UPS. This means no further costs are involved for our customers.

Can I still place orders with Photospecialist.co.uk?

Yes but shipping times may get longer due to the customs processing starting January 1st 2021.

I noticed your shipping costs have gone up?

Yes we have to charge higher shipping fees because the UK is no longer treated under the EU shipping tariff but under world tariff. This, together with custom duties leads to higher shipping costs from EU mainland to the UK.

Do I have to pay VAT on your website now the UK left the EU?

Yes you have to pay VAT. Technically there is a difference between orders below or above £135.00. We decided to handle both orders below and above £135.00 the same to make it as easy as possible for our customers. This means you won’t be charged with additional custom duties and we transfer the VAT to HMRC.

Can I still make VAT-free orders with you?

Yes if you provide a valid VAT number which is approved by HMRC then you can process your order with VAT.

Will shipping times remain the same after the 31st of December?

Normal transit times between EU mainland and UK are 1-2 days. Due to the Brexit a new custom process will be introduced. This will almost certainly lead to longer shipping times. We will send you a tracking code which you can use to check the status of your order.
