A monocular, sometimes called a monocular binocular, is a viewing device with a single eyepiece, which means you look through it with just one eye. What is a monocular?

A monocular, also called a mono binocular, has the same purpose as a binocular pair. With a monocular you bring the image closer, so you can see the details better. Because you look through it with a single eye, depth is less than when you look through a standard binocular pair. An advantage, however, is that a monocular is often more compact and lighter.
