The Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX is a welcome addition to the popular LUMIX S series. This mirrorless camera delivers incredible photo and video performance in an attractive, compact design. Compared to the LUMIX S5II, the LUMIX S5 IIX goes that little bit further for the professional videographer, wrapped in a sleek, matt-black finish. The S5 IIX features a 24 Megapixel 35mm full-frame sensor CMOS sensor that lets in plenty of light and produces razor-sharp images. Combined with the advanced image processor, the sensor delivers outstanding image quality for both photo and video recording.

Reliable Autofocus and stabilisation

The redesigned image sensor introduces, for the first time in the LUMIX line-up, hybrid phase-detection Autofocus. This hybrid autofocus system combines phase detection with contrast detection for fast, reliable focusing. The new system can easily recognise subjects even in challenging conditions such as low light. Once focus is locked, it continues to track the subject across the frame. Continuous Autofocus is also available when zooming in, as well as AF micro adjustments.

The LUMIX S5 IIX features significantly improved Image stabilisation, allowing you to capture stable, sharp shots even when shooting handheld. Active Image stabilisation is particularly useful in demanding conditions — such as when using a telephoto lens or filming while walking. It also ensures highly stable video by optimising horizontal, vertical, and rotational correction.

Exceptional video performance

This mirrorless camera offers exceptional video performance comparable to the LUMIX S1H. You can record in 4:2:0 10-bit 6K (3:2) and 5.9K (16:9) at 30fps, as well as 4:2:2 C4K/4K at 60fps. High Frame Rate recording is straightforward, with up to 120fps and slow motion up to 180fps. A variety of colour profiles are supported, including 14+ stop V-Log and V-Gamut. The REAL TIME LUT function lets you upload colour grading LUTs to an SD card and apply them directly in-camera, rather than during post-production.

Built for serious videographers

The S5 IIX takes video capabilities even further than the S5II. The LUMIX S5IIX is capable of recording 5.8K Apple ProRes and C4K RAW or All-Intra footage to an SSD or external recorder. The camera supports both wireless and wired IP streaming, as well as USB tethering. The S5 IIX can record in C4K 30p 4:2:2 10-bit, whereas the S5II records in 4:2:0. 4K S and Q Slow Motion are also recorded on the S5IIX with 4:2:2 chroma subsampling for outstanding colour depth. Professional videographers will appreciate features such as Waveform Monitor, Vector Scope, and Zebra Pattern. Additional features like System Frequency (24.00Hz) and Synchro Scan make this camera well suited to professional use.

Panasonic LUMIX S 18mm f/1.8

The Panasonic LUMIX S 18mm f/1.8 is a super wide-angle Prime lens with a 100° angle of view. This expansive field of view makes it ideal for a wide range of applications, including landscape, astrophotography, and architectural photography. A minimum focusing distance of just 0.18 metres also opens up more possibilities for close-up shooting. The optical construction consists of 13 lens elements in 12 groups, including three aspherical lenses, three ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses, one UED (Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion) lens, and one UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens. The three aspherical lenses deliver superior image performance, while the three ED lenses suppress chromatic aberration. The wide maximum Aperture of f/1.8, with nine Aperture blades, produces beautiful Bokeh effects. The lens operates smoothly and quietly with the camera's fast AF system, thanks to digital signal exchange between camera and lens at up to 240fps. When focusing manually, the focus point shifts by a variable amount in non-linear mode depending on the speed at which the focus ring is turned. In linear mode, the focus point shifts by a fixed amount based on how far the focus ring is rotated. During video recording, a mechanism within the lens suppresses focus breathing. Combined with micro-step Aperture control for smooth Exposure adjustment, this makes professional-quality video recording possible. Thanks to its compact design and low weight of just 340 grams, the LUMIX S 18mm f/1.8 is easy to take anywhere. Its robust, dust- and splash-resistant construction can even withstand harsh conditions down to -10 degrees Celsius.
