Description
Laowa Aurogon FF 10-50x NA0.5 supermicro APO - Nikon F
The Laowa Aurogon FF 10-50x NA0.5 supermicro APO (Nikon F): a new league in macro photography!
Photographs taken with a normal microscope and a camera adapter have several drawbacks. Their image quality is relatively poor, especially in the corners, the full format is barely exposed and the working distance is extremely short. The Laowa Aurogon is therefore specially designed for microscope photography with full-frame cameras. Thanks to its special design and apochromatic correction, it offers extremely high image quality to the corners and a long shooting distance for a microscope.
It consists of four different tube lenses that connect directly to the camera and a front lens mounted on the tube. The tubes offer magnifications of 10x, 20x, 35x and 50x. The length of the tubes varies between 112 mm and 253 mm and the weight between 370 and 465 grams. The front lens has a length of 167 mm with a diameter of 50 mm and a weight of 447 grams.
Unlike conventional lenses, microscope optics often uses the 'numerical aperture' (NA), which describes the 'receiving cone of an objective'. In microscope optics, NA reflects the resolving power of an objective rather than something about its ability to collect light. The larger the numerical aperture, the better an optic can make finer details visible. Laowa's new Supermicro APO lens has NA values (similar to the aperture value of a normal lens) between 0.15 and 0.5, which can be adjusted in 8 steps on the front lens.
The minimum object distance is as much as 20 mm from the front lens, regardless of which magnification tube is connected. Thanks to this relatively large distance, external light sources can be used quite easily.
The focal length of the combined front lens and intermediate tube is 18.8 mm for the 10x tube and decreases to 5.56 mm when the 50x tube is used.
Special lens holder rings are available as an accessory for mounting on a macrodia or tripod.
All settings are made manually.
