The Panasonic HC-X2E is a sophisticated 4K camcorder with integrated lens and 1.0-type sensor that offers the features and performance professionals want, in addition to excellent weight balance and portability. The optical performance of the HC-X2 is outstanding due to the integrated 24.5mm wide-angle lens with 20x optical zoom, 5-axis HYBRID O.I.S.+ image stabilisation, and extremely precise and fast AF with face recognition. This camcorder supports 4:2:2 10-bit 4K 30p/25p internal video recording, a variety of recording formats such as Slow Motion (100/120 fps) and Variable Frame Rate (2fps to 60fps), plus the ability to shoot HEVC recordings for more efficient file storage. The Panasonic HC-X2E also offers HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) and V-log for creating 4K HDR content, as well as Ethernet connectivity and simultaneous SDI/HDMI output, and HD livestreaming via various streaming protocols.
The integrated lens has 20x optical zoom from 24.5mm wide angle to 490mm telephoto, and with i.ZOOM 24x zoom at 4K and 32x zoom at Full HD resolution. This wide zoom range is possible thanks to a 4-Lens Drive System that controls each lens group separately. Face Detection AF/AE combined with precision focus drive enables superior focusing speed plus excellent stability and tracking performance in both 4K and Full HD shooting. The HC-X2 features a hybrid system in which optical and electronic image stabilisation work together to detect and correct motion blur across five axles, including rotational blur. This allows for smooth panning shots and beautifully stable handheld shots, even at 20x zoom or in tricky conditions, such as shooting from a low or high angle.
For internally captured recordings, Ultra HD at 29.98p/25p and Full HD up to 59.97p/50p in 4:2:2 10-bit quality can be utilised. Via HDMI output, Ultra HD 60p 4:2:2 10-bit recordings can be captured externally. Moreover, highly efficient HEVC recording (LongGOP/10-bit 4:2:0/MOV) is supported for shooting 59.97p/200Mbps, whereas you can choose from MOV (QuickTime), MP4 and AVCHD for the file format. The HC-X2 allows you to shoot High Dynamic Range (HDR) video when the Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) shooting mode is used. HDR video offers a wider brightness range than standard video, rendering images more natural and lifelike. Plus, you can shoot in the 13-stop V-Log mode: the ideal basis for accurate, uniform colour grading of shots in post-processing.
This camcorder features built-in Wi-Fi, and the HC-ROP mobile app enables wireless control of the HC-X2E via your Smartphone or tablet. It also features Ethernet, which guarantees an extremely stable livestreaming connection. The camcorder also has a tiltable 1,769k-pixel OLED viewfinder that can be used simultaneously with the 3.5-inch LCD screen for greater efficiency. The lens body features three manually adjustable rings to control zoom, focus and iris. Furthermore, there are 14 customisable user buttons (nine on the body and five on the LCD touchscreen). The integrated ND filter has four settings (Off, 1/4, 1/16 and 1/64) and there are specific Gain and AWB buttons.
The two SD card slots allow for long continuous recordings: the memory media automatically and seamlessly switches from slot 1 to slot 2, and you can replace full cards with new ones while recording. Two interchangeable XLR inputs support +48V Phantom Power Supply/MIC/LINE. Audio can also be recorded in 24-bit linear PCM (MOV), 16-bit AAC (MP4) or Dolby Audio (AVCHD).
